Summer is (hopefully) upon us. Living in Northeast Ohio can be a whirlwind. Two days ago it was 54 degrees and today there were snowflakes on my freshly washed car. Picture this: the weather is warm. The sun is out. Dads are out grilling up burgers in their cargo shorts from the 90s that are hanging on by a thread. An iconic image that we all know a little too well. What if we took some style inspiration from those loose shorts men with children wear...but make it Gen Z, fashionable AND comfy? Let me present to you the Dad shorts by Victoria's Secret PINK.
Think: loose fitting bike shorts but made with fleece. We all know that the oversized fit has been in for a minute and those bermudas we rocked back in middle school were going to catch up with us eventually. I may be slightly bias considering Victoria's Secret and PINK are my place of employment...but I saw these bad boys online and could not wait to get my hands on them. It was quite funny, the ladies at my job who are older than me thought these were "silly" and "kind of ugly", meanwhile me and a likewise demographic of gal pals at work had total heart eyes for them.
The rave over athleisure wear is still present today but the skin tight, slim fit is fading fast. Tik Tok has taught us all that baggy jeans are the move. Skinny jeans, who? These shorts not only are on trend with what the young people want in the market but they made super comfortable options that can be worn from the gym, to endless zoom classes, to your desk while you WFM. The cut is just right. I am 6', yes six feet tall, and I feel very comfortable with the length. The drawstring allows the wearer to tighten it at the waist for a more defined look or leave it to the elastic. I love that I can pair it with a boyfriend sized crewneck and some Air Force 1s or I can style it up with a trendy, one shoulder body suit, layer on some gold necklaces, and probably still rock the white sneakers. Throw a mini bag on and some rectangle sunnies on with a slicked back bun and you're set. But please, don't forget your mask.
